Christantus Uche Ignites Straightforward Crystal Palace Victory at Shelbourne.
Despite entering their first-ever European adventure, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Without star figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding win that virtually guarantees them a place in the Conference League qualifying rounds.
A further victory in their upcoming fixture against Finland's KuPS ought to be sufficient to seal straight entry to the knockout stages, especially after a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Grasp the Moment
This match offered a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second consecutive succession.
The Shelbourne side that had finished their domestic season were outmatched even for a largely second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were already depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.

Ex-Arsenal striker didn't need to wait long to get his goal, tapping home from a yard out after Uche's effort had struck the post.
The home side were clinging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for a couple of robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards rattled the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some comically weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.
Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for improvement in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
