Fall Classic Final Game Attracts 51 Million Audience Members In the United States, Canada and Japan Regions.

The thrilling 11-inning contest where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run drew a combined 51 million viewers across the United States, Canada, and Japan markets. Major League Baseball stated this marks the highest-rated World Series finale since the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

The Saturday epic game drew 27.33M audience members on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the week.

It also is the top-rated Fall Classic game since the 2017 Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This represents a sixteen percent improvement over the last Game 7 featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked fourth, the fourth game ranked seventh, the fifth game came in 8th, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth position.

International Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the game recorded over 11 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the most-watched English program in Canada after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it averaged 12 million viewers. This came after the previous Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – drew 13.1 million spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a single network in Japan.

Overall Totals and Patterns

The entire seven-match series recorded over 15.7 million viewers on the Fox network, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This marks the initial instance after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership increases for two consecutive seasons.

Including the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the total American average was 16.1 million. The total Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels drew over 8 million watchers, an eight percent rise compared to the previous year and Fox’s best postseason performance after 2017.

MLB announced that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen different languages.
