The second-hand marketplace Users Express Frustration Regarding Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Updates
Previously, the measurements included one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
